Buch-Tipps zu 'Giacomo Puccini (1858-1924)'
| Giacomo Puccini: Catalogue of the Works (Bärenreiter, 2003) By Dieter Schickling. Hardcover, 466 pages, 20x27cm. Giacomo Puccini did not leave behind an extraordinarily large number of compositions. Therefore, there is no need for a catalogue to organize an enormous body of music, as was the case in the past with, for example, the catalogues for Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. On the contrary, the clarity of Puccini's achievement with its core of twelve more or less famous operas has moulded the general concensus that nothing of note in Puccini studies remains to be elucidated. Cecil Hopkinson's "Bibliography of the Works of Giacomo Puccini" was invaluable for revealing the error of that consensus. He took commendable care in identifying and classifying the printed editions of Puccini's operas, but he neglected Puccini's other works. Wherever possible, Hopkinson's cursoriness, omissions, and series of mistakes have been systematically revised and corrected in this catalogue. ISBN-13: 9783761815823 |
